Christopher Sanger

It is with great sadness that we wanted to let you know that Chris Sanger passed away yesterday afternoon, February 18, 2023. Due to the unfortunate combination of a recent COVID infection and his underlying health issues, he experienced multi-organ failure and, rather than artificially prolonging his life, he made the decision, as had always been his intention, to choose the path of comfort measures instead of highly invasive procedures.

We are so grateful that he experienced minimal to no pain or suffering from the actual medical conditions. It was the IVs, the oxygen support apparatus, the blood draws, and the cords of all the monitoring devices that were the primary sources of minor discomfort. Equally we feel blessed to have been with Chris during this time and to be by his side as his long and full life came to a peaceful end.

We feel great sorrow and already miss him terribly. His wishes are to have his body cremated, so there will not be a funeral. That said, we anticipate gathering at some point in the future, whether in person or virtually, to honor and celebrate his life.

If you would like to make a donation in Chris’s memory, we know that he would appreciate those funds being directed to Pima Animal Care Center, Pima Paws for Life, and Arizona Public Media.

Sending all our love and best wishes as we mourn this great loss.
